Evergreen PAC exists to restore balance in our state government. We work to ensure that our shared values are carefully considered by lawmakers and to make Oregon’s government work well for the people it serves.

OUR PRIORITIES

Housing

Appropriate housing is out of reach for too many Oregonians. By engaging in responsible land use reform and implementing safe but reasonable building codes, we can dramatically reduce the cost of building the new housing units our friends, families, and neighbors so desperately need.

Mental Health & Addiction + Measure 110

Every day, we see the unintended consequences of Measure 110. Oregonians deserve meaningful addiction and mental health treatment funded in a timely manner at adequate levels. By reimplementing accountability measures and investing in mental health and addiction treatment, we can ensure that people who need help are actually receiving it. The way it was implemented, Measure 110 does not work for Oregonians. People are hurting, and it is imperative that we implement meaningful reform that serves all of our citizens.

Cost of Living

Existing revenue-raising measures like the Corporate Activity Tax (more on this later) are placing an undue financial burden on Oregonains. We have one of the largest state budgets per capita in the nation; we can certainly find ways to spend our budget more efficiently and pass savings along to the Oregonians who need it most.

Affordable Healthcare

The prevalence and power of Plan Benefit Managers (PBMs) coupled with state-level taxes like the Corporate Activity Tax are threatening not only people’s ability to afford medicine, but our ability to access it at all. Pharmacies are stretched beyond their breaking point, unable to stay open and provide live-saving medications to their patients.

Returning Republicans have been working on Healthcare Affordability for several sessions, and will continue to spearhead the effort to quell PBMs and other price-gouging methods and entities making healthcare far too expensive.

Natural Resources

Oregon’s incredible natural resources enable us all to live in this beautiful place. Timber, water, produce, and livestock and our ability to grow them require special protections. Evergreen is dedicated to electing Representatives who understand the unique needs of Oregon’s rural communities.

Safety

Oregonians have a right to feel safe both in their homes and in public spaces. By implementing real Measure 110 reform and measures that improve policing rather than hindering it, we can restore Oregon to its status as a haven for people of all ages to experience peaceful, safe interactions in their neighborhoods.

Wildfire

Years of misguided practices have resulted in forests that are overgrown and unhealthy. As we well know, these forests are primed for devastating forest fires. Senate Bills 762 and 80 inappropriately place the burden of fire resistance and resilience on landowners, while absolving the state and federal governments of their responsibilities to be good stewards of our forestland and public health. We can and must implement science-based, fire-resistant forest management policies.

Student Achievement

In 2023, a bipartisan effort to improve outcomes in Oregon’s schools resulted in one of the largest school funding packages in state history. We can no longer point to funding as the source of Oregon students’ underperformance in elementary, middle, and high school. Our team is dedicated to making sure a diploma in Oregon indicates true proficiency in basic subjects like reading and math and readiness for employment and further education.

Transparency

Our government is elected by us and funded by us. We have a reasonable expectation of openness, honesty, and transparency in both the Legislature and the Executive Branch. When we have political will in the Legislature, we can make meaningful improvements in the way Oregon’s agencies are held accountable.
